My name is Tiffany Colvin, born & raised in Indianapolis, Indiana & a graduate of IPS Broad Ripple High School. I’m married to Rosevelt Colvin III & a mother of four. After high school I completed cosmetology school and became a professional hair stylist, styling hair part time for 3 years in the area. I then moved to Chicago with my husband, who at the time was playing in the NFL for the Chicago Bears. In 2003 we moved to Massachusetts where he played for the New England Patriots the next 6 years. During that time I was a stay at home mom and continued to style hair for afew NFL wives, family members and friends. My plan was to open an upscale salon/day spa in the Indy area after he retired. As time passed, I realized that my passion was no longer doing hair full time but in the kitchen! At a young age I learned how to cook by following my mother around as she prepared meals. Over the years I developed a love for eating food as well as the preparation of it. My mom, Patrice Young, has baked cakes and catered for weddings, birthdays, showers as well as other events in the city for many years but was never able to have her own storefront. She would always travel to Illinois and Massachusetts during holidays to bake cakes and pies for my husbands teammates and coaches. There were occasions where we would pull all nighters trying to prepare the 60 to 70 cakes and pies that had been ordered. Who would have known that it would foreshadow what was to come. We both have a passion for food, so to see and hear someones reaction when they taste what we’ve made is a joy!
Upon returning home to Indianapolis in 2009, my desire to open my own dessert shop grew more and more. As I developed my own twist to old-fashioned desserts and my mother still to making those delicious cakes, I made the decision that I wanted to make this dream a reality. As we researched the requirements and responsibilities, we realized that it was going to be a challenge. One major hurdle was securing a location. Location, location, location!!!! We feel that we have been very blessed to open the first SweeTies Gourmet Treats in Broad Ripple Village where we also own The UPS Store. Broad Ripple Village is a great little artsy district in Indianapolis known for its night life, shops, restaurants, bars and businesses.
